| Problem | Many factors affect dependability (e.g., availability, reliability, safety, and security) and performance of complex computing systems and applications executing on them. Modeling and simulation methods and tools that are used to understand the isolatedquality attributes have been reasonably successful when computing systems and the applications were relatively simple. However, these methods do not have the capability to provide system view and analysis, nor they can provide a well-defined hierarchical analysis and structuring needed to model systems of the level of complexity under the consideration. |
| Objective | The objective of the proposed research is to develop scalable approaches that allow models, measurements, and simulators with different levels of details and abstraction to be combined together to analyze multiple quality attributes and their tradeoffs for complex distributed systems. To demonstrate the validity of the developed methods and techniques we will apply them on the Web based applications. |
